Saturday Sous Chef
I don't know if you've experienced this before, but occassionally my thoughts will be moving so fast my words come out in the wrong order. There is one particular one I feel bad about. I was asked by this particular Sous Chef what kind of boy I see her with. I had a lot of ideas because her quirky and fun personality definitely deserved someone equally fun and quirky. Yet the first word the came out was "patient." Smooth Will, way to make someone feel good. She laughed it off and all was well and thankfully she agreed. Although, that was the complete wrong impression I wanted to give.
Chloe and I's friendship roots:
My first impression on Chloe was one that I do not remember. She was in my freshman biology class and I was a captain for a team. I picked her and told her she was smart. This is the story she claims and the impression kept a positive image of me in her head. I would say our friendship took off senior year, especially when I joined Comedy Sportz and started loving to support the arts at school. An unexpectedly big blessing in my life has been growing closer to her at college. We don't see each other super often, but always keep in touch by sending tweets of babies and dogs back and forth.
Mems and things that make Chloe a gem of a friend:
1) Chloe is extremely passionate and gets excited over unique things. She is also equally dramatic about sharing these things. She loves Korean culture. She gets excited when she gets to eat pizza and fries from Wiley dining court. She loves and has great style. She loves Avatar the Last Airbender. There are so many other things that aren't rushing to my head. Whenever she gets excited about these things she uses strongest language like: "this murders me" or "this kills me" while falling back in her chair.
2) Chloe makes connections only to songs and videos. She will constantly interject saying "that reminds me of the video of the ____" or "oh my goodness have you seen the video of ____?" I tease her for her immense video library that she has in her head. It is truly impressive. I am often graced by her smile as she shows me the videos that she thinks are cuter/funnier/cooler than I do, but I love how much joy they bring her.
3)Chloe is a TOP-NOTCH friend. She listens, cares, and is not afraid to affirm. Somehow, she has a knack for being able to reach out when I'm needing her to. She invites me to be with her friends, to hangout with her, or to join a group of both of our friends who are hanging out. She remembers me when others don't. She is amazingly inclusive andI have a hard time saying no to hanging out with her even when I'm busy and miss hearing her snort in her laugh and her dramatic language.
4) I had one of the best Valentine's days because of an invite from Chloe. I joined her and Emily on a day of PSUB events, Chik-fil-a, and a rom-com. We were all single and still laughed all night in thanksgiving of each other. She will tell me something like "if you told freshman/sophomore Chloe that she would be hanging out with Will Oberndorfer on weekends, she wouldn't believe you." All I have to say to that is I think I'm the one blessed with her presence.
5) Chloe makes people laugh. Sometimes it's her jokes. Sometimes it's her videos. Often, it is just Chloe being Chloe. Bringing laughter is one of the purest forms of joy and she brings it often.
Chloe
I look forward to seeing you every week at Ignite. I'm keeping you in my prayers. I love your passion for your major and the love for your friends in your major. When I brag on having the best friends around, you are certainly a big part of it. Keep being a blessing :)
