There are a total of 7 members in PSUB with the name Sara(h). 8 if you include the roommate of Shelby who attends a lot of our events and reads my PSUB weekly email (big blessing). I don't include last names typically, so this one goes out to our VP of Personnel Sarah. Sarah is the only returning member of the Board of Directors in PSUB from last semester, so she was kind of the team mom for a while in the office. She has done a lot for us and more than deserves my appreciation.

The first major impression of Sarah:

I can't remember my first impression of Sarah as a person. I knew of her because she was a director in PSUB and she taught the game Anomia which I won (big flex) at board game night, but nothing formal before this moment. I was dressed in a suit for some reason or another. It was late and I was getting dinner at Pappy's in the Union. Pappy's basically has the vibe of Steak 'n Shake. I was sitting at the bar alone, feeling kinda weird to be dressed up in a suit eating a fast-food type meal. Plus, eating alone in a restaurant is never completely comfortable. Sarah had just wrapped up her committee meeting and they were heading down to Pappy's to play a game. I was content with being alone and wasn't searching for someone to sit with. Sarah, however, came up to me and asked if I wanted to join them for the game. Of course, I said yes. It was the first time that PSUB had felt like a family to me, one that looks out for each other.

Sarah's qualities and our memories that I love:

1) BOD Retreat. A trip to turkey run that Sarah worked very hard on to get us to bond and give us resources to ready for us our new roles. There were a lot of fun things about BOD retreat, but one thing it gave me was a competitive and closer relationship with Sarah. We played this game called Throw Throw Burrito. Yes, part of the game is throwing burritos at each other and Sarah was the person I threw the burrito at because it was the most efficient. However, a couple of cases of erroneous throws and good aim led to a fiesty competition. It was light-hearted and funny, but it didn't stop there. Later we played Anomia, and I lost. It is a competitive word game that is kinda like one-on-one scaterrgories. Anyway, I felt gypped for creative thought and argued very verbally. Sarah feeling the competitive spirit from Throw Throw Burrito, did not back down from fighting back. I loved it and its a funny memory even though I'm slightly embarrassed of my actions. Even more on retreat, I asked my favorite question "What's the best compliment you've received?" She didn't give me an answer but ended up complimenting me by saying she now asks other people the same question. I'm super thankful for these foundations of our friendship.

2) An orange starburst on my desk. Sarah is the bold person who claimed orange is the worst flavor of everything, but really this heresy treats me well. Every time she gets an orange starburst she will leave it on my desk and when I get a red it will go on hers. She started this trend and I find it a beautiful example of her willingness to listen and care for others. I also think it is a kinda funny representation of our friendship because our disagreements somehow make us stronger friends.

3) Sarah is all-in. There is a point I often hit when I commit to something where I'm like "I care, but not this much" *proceeds to stop working*. Sarah doesn't know that point. She desires to get the best out of the things she has put time into. Multiple times she has stayed in the office late to ensure great work for callouts, orientation, or other projects she does for PSUB. We appreciate her hard work and it has set an example for the rest of the BOD to go above and beyond.

4) Sarah is inclusive. If you couldn't tell by the first story, she has a natural heart for caring about people. She also has the people skills to back it up. A loud, amazing laugh, apparent active listening, and lover of different types of people are just some of the skills. She invites people to join her joys of a movie night or Bob Ross painting. She has made the office and PSUB, in general, a warmer place and I get excited to ask her how she is when I see her because I feel like I'm tossing some of the care back to her.

5) Sarah is goofy. I already told you about her awesome laugh (BTW she laughs at my cringey jokes a solid 45%!!!!). She has the longest name for a car that I've ever heard. She makes big, bold, goofy statements. She loves to play, teach, and learn games. To me, God made goof inherently good and that good is in Sarah.

Sarah:

Sarah thanks for being a light in the office. I appreciate you so much even though I'm normally giving you a hard time. I'll be sad to not see you every week for the rest of the semester :(
