What is the most special thing on your phone? What is that one thing that if it got deleted forever, it would crush you? I would bet for most people its a photo or video. An app with all your photos and videos is cheating if that's what you were thinking. For me, it's a voicemail from two years ago from my late grandmother. 3/14 was two years since her death and I would be naive to think that she isn't someone who spends every day with me at Purdue.

The voicemail starts with a "Hi sweetie" and ends with "we love you okay sweetie bye." I don't think more than 2 people know I have that voicemail or know how much I cherish it.

I have blogged about the passing of my grandmother at least once before and honestly, it helps a lot. This blog goes out to how she stays with me now.

I listen to that voicemail and the thing that always strikes me is how her voice carries love. It's both in the words and the tone. It's like when someone starts talking about something they are passionate about you can hear their passion. Same thing with grandma and her love. I want to carry love with all parts of my being. I ain't anywhere close. Grandma did it with her grandkids that is for sure.

Grandma was undeniable. Not irresistible, but you couldn't tell her no. I remember she told me that as she was kicking cancer's but she'd wake up and every day tell the Lord "you aren't getting me today" and pray a rosary on her fingers. WOW WOW WOW. Imagine if every day I told laziness "you will not get me today." What I love about this is it is defiant, it is faithful, and it is present. Christ had those qualities. He prayed, he defied norms, and he was present to those around him. The day to make a difference is today.

Grandma's love was unmovable. I literally do not think I could have done anything to make her stop loving me. Something about that love made me better and continues to make me better. I am ever grateful to have familial examples that mirror the love Christ has for us. To think that Christ loves me more than my parents and grandparents, wow, how amazing.

Grandma these are the things that have touched me recently about your life. I hope to continue to learn more about you. Pray for me and tell Christ thank you for me! I love and miss you.
